Black, Spring 2016
In my collection 'Black' I further experimented with textures and patterns. I began by fusing 18ct yellow gold to Argentium® silver and then flattening the silver (with the fused gold) in the rolling mill. (For more information about Argentium silver click here.)
This is a fairly unpredictable process where the gold may distort in a various directions. I found this chance element very exciting and this produces of course completely unique, one-off pieces as it is difficult to exactly re-produce this effect. I then further textured and blackened the silver to bring out the contrast with the beautiful golden colour. I used this technique in a variety of pieces which can be seen below.
I continued furthermore with Kumihimo silk braiding to make very thin, stripy braids, wanting to achieve a minimal, understated look that would complement the black and gold of the metal parts.
Some individual pieces of this collection may still be available through my shop.
