Layers, Spring 2017

Layers was the starting point of this series of pieces: that which lies underneath, is hidden, half seen, shimmers through or is revealed - it fascinates me and is a theme I often return to. In this collection I also focussed on earrings and experimented with the colour contrasts: of silver and oxidized surfaces and of gold against a black surface. The latter was achieved by having these pieces gold and black rhodium plated.

Post-script, July 2023: This collection was the only one in which some of my pieces were electro-plated. As I no longer use this technique, I will not re-produce these designs. Individual left-over pieces of this collection may, however, still be available in my shop. In following collections I replaced the gold-plating with the Korean technique Keum-Boo, which is an environmentally friendly process.
