Lotus and Papyrus Brooch
Lotus and Papyrus Brooch
The Lotus Brooch is an extension of the brooches in the Interrupted Pattern series and it is based on patterns found on ancient Egpytian artefacts and tombs. The lotus flower and papyrus were important plants in Egyptian culture. I have used their motif here on this brooch as if it were a broken chard of pottery.
The piece is made from a Fine (pure) silver front plate which has been textured heavily and onto which the 24ct gold foil pattern of the plants has been applied in the Korean Keum-Boo technique.
The front plate is held in place on blackened Sterling silver back frame with a secure double pin.
All pieces are hand-made by myself and are hallmarked at the London Assay Office. Slight variations may occur.
