Small, oval brooches with irregular, gold pattern
These small, elegant silver brooches are part of my collectionInterrupted Patterns. Read the whole story behind this collection in my June Blog.
The oval brooches are heavily textured and their edges are irregular, showing the marking of some of tools involved in the making. They are decorated with a delicate and elongated leaf pattern, using 24ct (fine) gold foil in the ancient technique of Keum-Boo. The pattern is reminiscent of the decorations on ancient Greek ceramics. The brooches are secured with a single stainless steel pin on the back of each piece.
Materials: Recycled sterling silver, recycled 24ct (fine) gold foil (13 microns thick). All jewellery is hand-made by myself in my workshop and all pieces are hallmarked at the London Assay Office.
